Event 3 – The Other Women at the Tomb

Matthew 28:5-8, Mark 16:2-8, Luke 24:1-8

  • Jerusalem; Sunday, Early in the Morning

L On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, K just after sunrise, L the women took the spies they had prepared and went K on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.

As they entered the tomb, L they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, M “Do not be afraid, K You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. L Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; M come and see K the place where they laid him. L He is risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ M Then go quickly and tell his disciples K and Peter M ‘He is risen from the dead and is K going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.”
