Event 26 – The Calming of the Storm

Matthew 8:18, 23-27, Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-25

K That day when evening came, M When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he K said to his disciples, “Let us go over M to the other side of the lake.

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. K Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.

L As they sailed, he fell asleep. M Without warning a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over K the boat, so that it L was being swamped, and they were in great danger.

K Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. L The disciples went and woke him, saying “Master, Master, we’re going to drown! M Lord, save us! K Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the L raging K waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

They were terrified and L in fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
